As our exhibition draws to a close in the next few weeks, it’s time to take a look back at everything our team has accomplished this year. From creating a catalog to installing an exhibition, running social media sites to devising education events, this year has been full of surprises and learning opportunities for our team. Through the highs and lows, it’s been a great experience.
This year, our team created four different types of publications, five different displays, four fundraisers, and four education events. We also had other museums loan objects for our exhibition, had our catalog registered as an official publication, reached out to about 50 people through our education events, and received sponsorships from a variety of businesses and organizations in and around Anstruther and St. Andrews. All in all, we would call that a great success for our team!
There were a few bumps along the way of course – the course of exhibitions never do run smooth. We learned that adjusting lighting in an exhibition space can be tricky, editing text can be really difficult especially when you’ve read it at least a dozen times already, and sometimes events don’t always go according to plan. However, through it all we worked as a team to overcome these challenges.
One of the most valuable things our team learned this year was how to work with a group of complete strangers to build something bigger than all of us for others. It’s been an interesting, challenging, enjoyable year and I think all eight of us have walked away from it with new perspectives and skills that we didn’t have before. All in all, it’s been a great adventure.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of all of you, our tea fans. Thank you so much for supporting us through this process, reading our articles, joining our events, and following along with our journey. We hope you enjoyed it half as much as we did!
